This week’s crochet ideas you can't miss…
Mountain sunset.
A quick to do shawl using a simple stitch pattern that works up beautifully with self-striping yarn.
Breezy daisy days.
Such a pretty floral themed bag. I love the daisy motif and the squares set on the diagonal. A fun project that’d make an excellent gift.
Green tea floral delight.
A superb cushion-sized floral-inspired afghan block using a myriad of colors. It’s so intricate and it highlights the skill of our beautiful craft.
Apples and tomatoes.
A gorgeous blanket design by Kiersten Figurski of
. Here’s what inspired her design:“Northern New Mexico’s August and September overwhelm one with the beauty of the colors. The colors are vibrant and incredibly nourishing after the winter and long and cold muddy Spring. When New Mexico comes to life and we have rains, the beauty is boundless.
I feel as if I have to stop and absorb all the irresistible colors. But I don’t know how – this is the only way I feel I can capture the brightness and the cheer these flowers bring. And then the apples came, and then the tomatoes…. And those colors became a huge part of the blanket. Then the sun and Chamisa … I added enough sun to get us through the winter.”

Arachne’s curse.
This coat is inspired by the goddess of weaving. Arachne means spider and this stunning duster coat resembles a spider’s web.
Athena owl.
What a gorgeous owl themed textured bag.
Its inspiration is from vintage macrame designs. You can choose to add your own crocheted strap or use a pre bought handbag strap.
Granny ripple.
A sweet, crocheted ripple blanket which would make a great stash buster project. Videos to help understand the instructions are provided too.
Bondi beach pillow for your e-reader.
This is a clever pillow design to hold up your e-reader. I’m in awe of people who can crochet and read at the same time!
Pretty peony.
A lovely dishcloth/washcloth that’s circular and looks like a peony flower. Designer Seona Roberts reminded me about this fact:
“Not only is the finished product handy (and compostable once it’s past its use by date)!”
Chloe the mouse who loves daisies.
Such a sweet amigurumi animal and the daisies are adorable too. I love how the designer opted for some daisy petals to be loose as though Chloe had been making wishes.
Rainbow galaxy.
This blanket creates a stunning continuous spiral pattern. It’s made using a series of spiral squares sewn together to make a swirly, unique blanket.
River pebbles.
A shawl inspired by Lake Tahoe and the surrounding areas. Imagine walking into the shallows of the lake, noticing the river pebbles. One of those pebbles when tossed into the lake results in beautiful ripples.
The stripes in the River Pebbles Shawl represent the ripples, and the double crochet cluster rows represent the lovely river pebbles.
This week’s insider crochet inspiration…
A cunning and clever crochet solution to Spain’s heatwave.
This fabulous group of crocheters have constructed ‘crocheted shade’.
Not only as respite from the hot sun but to inspire and delight people who admire their beautiful, crocheted art.
Crochet art that might surprise you!
A selection of crochet artists that use mediums that are sometimes not yarn. The artwork crocheting with cassette tape was most surprising!
An easy way to join squares that are all different.
If you love crocheting different types of squares and then want to put them to use in a blanket, here is a method to join them together.
The history of amigurumi.
There are millions of cute creatures out there created with crochet stitches. Find out about how amigurumi came about.
Winged cable stitch.
A great way to incorporate texture into your project and to create a sturdy fabric. You can use this stitch for projects that’ll only have one side showing.
The fascinating history of the granny square.
Here’s some interesting information on how the granny square came to be.
Rectangular granny square.
Instead of the usual square shape, you get a rectangle granny square, perfect for adding variety to your projects.
Extraordinary hyperbolic surfaces.
Gabriele Meyer’s art is stunning: combining math and crochet that creates 3D hyperbolic shapes. I’d love to have the hanging lampshade in my home!
How to adjust your foundation chain.
Learn how you can adjust the length of your foundation chain without unraveling your first row.
An attempt to crochet with paper.
Who knew? Crocheting with paper, an interesting experiment.
A crochet design of your own making.
Just for a bit of fun try the Crochet Lathe. The principle is the same as when shaping an object using a lathe. Draw the profile of the object, press a button, and you’ll get the crochet design with instructions.
Add a zipper pouch inner without needing to sew anything.
This is a handy technique for attaching a crochet purse to the outside of a premade zippered pouch. Using crochet stitches to attach instead of sewing.
Hope this issue has inspired your next crochet project!
